A “snow-rated carport” is only useful when you know what load is being stated, for which exact configuration, under which installation conditions and how that evidence relates to your local requirements.
Snow numbers are not automatically comparable
Manufacturers use different wording and evidence bases. VersaTube currently publishes ground snow load values for exact configurations. Arrow publishes a 35 PSF snow/ground-load figure on current steel carports with explicit anchoring and local-code conditions. Canopia publishes product or series snow values in PSF on several aluminum/polycarbonate systems.

What to verify before relying on a snow-load claim

What does a 35 PSF snow rating mean on a carport?
It means only what the manufacturer defines and supports for that exact product or family. Verify whether the figure is ground snow, roof snow or another stated product load, plus the required anchoring and configuration conditions.
Can I compare a ground snow load directly with a roof snow load?
