Anchors are part of the structure, not an accessory to choose by appearance. Match the exact carport, surface, anchor method and published structural conditions before treating a wind or snow claim as meaningful.

There is no universal carport anchor

Concrete wedge anchors, ground anchors, rebar embedded in concrete, asphalt-compatible systems and provider-installed anchoring can all be legitimate in the right documented design. They are not interchangeable. The anchor has to transfer uplift and other forces from the exact frame into a foundation or soil condition that the system is designed to use.

Surface type changes the question

Existing concrete

Verify slab/footing suitability, edge distance, thickness or embedment requirements from the exact system or engineering—not merely whether a masonry anchor can physically be drilled into it.

Soil or gravel

Gravel is not itself a structural anchor. A documented design may use driven ground anchors or concrete piers below the surface; soil condition, frost and uplift requirements can change the needed detail.

Asphalt

Do not treat asphalt like concrete. Some manufacturers call for concrete below or through asphalt; others use a provider-specific engineered method. Follow the exact structure documentation.

Plan the anchor with the carport—not after delivery

Does anchoring affect the published wind rating?

Often yes. Current Arrow and VersaTube documentation conditions structural claims on a fully and securely anchored frame. The rating and the anchoring assumptions must be read together.

Can CarportFit tell me the exact anchor spacing to use?

Only when an exact current manufacturer document supports that detail, and even then local requirements can supersede the standard installation. CarportFit does not publish generic anchor spacing as a universal construction instruction.
