Cantilever Carports: Two-Post Fit, Site Planning & Buying Guide
A cantilever carport moves most or all primary supports to one side or a center support line so the parking edge stays more open. That can solve a real access problem—but it also makes post-side orientation, foundation work and exact clearance geometry more important than the nominal roof size.
Why cantilever geometry is a different fit problem
A conventional four-post carport usually distributes supports around the roof perimeter. A cantilever design supports a projecting roof from fewer, larger posts. The practical benefit is easier door opening, parking and circulation along an open edge. The tradeoff is that the support side is not interchangeable with the open side, and the foundation can become a more concentrated part of the project.

Both current Sydney records remain possible-only in CarportFit because a detailed exterior envelope is not the same as complete usable vehicle clearance. That conservative treatment is intentional.
Concrete and foundation work deserve extra attention
Current Sydney instructions call for a solid, level site and concrete footing work before assembly. The single system describes two foundation pits and concrete casting. - Architectural preference: a two-post or center-supported roof can look materially different from a conventional steel tube-frame carport.
Choose it because that geometry solves a site or access problem—not merely because “cantilever” sounds premium.

Enter the actual vehicle and site dimensions first. The cantilever preference then removes conventional structure types without turning missing clear-width evidence into a fake verified fit.
Weather claims still need their exact basis
Current Sydney pages publish a 75 mph wind claim and 13.3 lb/ft² snow claim for the researched configurations. CarportFit preserves those as manufacturer-published product evidence.
